Students’ anger as in-person exams reintroduced
As universities and schools across the country begin to reintroduce in-person exams, many students are expressing frustration and anger over the decision.
After months of online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students had grown accustomed to taking exams from the comfort of their homes. The sudden shift back to in-person exams has left many feeling unprepared and anxious.
Some students argue that in-person exams are unfair, as they may not have access to the same resources and support systems that they had during online exams. Others worry about their health and safety, as gathering in enclosed spaces for exams could increase the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Despite these concerns, schools and universities have defended their decision to reintroduce in-person exams, citing the need to maintain academic integrity and ensure a fair assessment of students’ knowledge and skills.
However, many students are calling for alternative assessment methods to be considered, such as open-book exams or take-home assignments, in order to accommodate for the challenges posed by the return to in-person exams.
It remains to be seen how schools and universities will respond to students’ concerns and whether any changes will be made to the exam format in light of the backlash.
